  • Open Circle Community Arts

    Open Circle is a small community arts organisation based in Kilkenny City which seeks to make the arts available and accessible to woman of all ages and from all walks of life, living in Kilkenny City and County. The heart of the project is our community art space the Open Circle Art House, in Kilkenny City. We offer a varied programme throughout the year, see our website for details.

  • KCAT (Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent)

    KCAT Art Centre offers a variety of courses, both short and long-term for adults. Courses
    are facilitated by experienced tutors. These include introductory art courses, open studio
    days, photography, life drawing, artist’s workshops, dance, ceramics, glass art, creative
    writing and sculpture. Additional week-end and summer courses are continually on offer.

  • Art Classes for Children

    Children will use their imagination and learn new skills in this jam packed, fun filled week.
    Children will draw and paint. Design and make a puppet. Create 3D, relief tiles and bowls
    in clay. Learn new printing techniques. Up-cycle everyday objects into art. Make colourful
    sugar craft creations, which they can eat later! And lots more….


    Classes are given by Anne, who is a qualified Art Teacher. They are suitable for children
    ages 5-12 yrs.


    A community based drop in Centre for people affected by cancer.   Supports include: free counselling, massage and counselling, as well as numerous group activities.  Specialised counselling for children, advice and information.  Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm for drop-in support or by appointment.

  • The Edward Hayden School of Cookery

    Located in beautiful Graiguenamangh, The Edward Hayden School of Cookery boasts a state of the art kitchen in which Edward, known and loved from his weekly cookery appearances on TV3’s Ireland AM, hosts a wide range of cookery classes, ranging in theme suiting all levels of culinary proficiency.

    All courses include fresh ideas for you to re-create at home, using easy to source ingredients. Edward also offers group bookings, private dining options, children’s cookery classes as well as bespoke classes and tuition.

  • Flipside

    Flipside Studio is a community based initiative that provides classes in the arts in an integrated setting. Promoting social inclusion.

  • Shanti School of Yoga

    Classes available for all abilities and include yoga for pregnancy, active retirement, parent and babies and children. Meditation workshops and classes. Private tuition for specific injuries or limitations. All teachers fully qualified.

  • Mary Ellen Brennan

    Mary Ellen Brennan teaches the Viniyoga approach to yoga. The hallmarks of this approach are adapting postures and practices to suit the needs of individuals. Students are encouraged to work at their own level and a class may have people practicing at
    various levels.

    Mary Ellen offers individual sessions in yoga as therapy for physical, emotional and mental well-being. Tuition for yoga teachers also available. Facilitates yoga day retreats and introductory days for beginners. Working with groups and individuals since 1994.

  • Kilkenny School of Yoga

    Run by husband and wife team, Toby and Essie Millie, Kilkenny School of Yoga now in it's ninth year. Offers classes in all styles of Yoga and Pilates, including Hot Yoga, Men's Core Strength and Flexibility training, Hatha Yoga, Sivananda Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Kids Yoga, Power Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga, as well as Yogalates. We also offer a Yoga and Arts summer camp for children aged 5 to 12. We are open all year round, offering classes at all levels. We welcome drop-in students.

  • Kilkenny County Enterprise Board

    Offer a range of short courses to suit small businesses and those thinking of starting a new business. A wide variety of programmes are available such as Start your own Business, Financial Training, Sales & Marketing, ICT Skills, Awareness of Business Compliance Issues and Management Training. Courses are held during the day or in the evenings.

  • Kilkenny Toastmasters

    A public speaking club for enjoyment - no pressure! Meetings include speeches and table topics.

    Qualifications may be obtained (Competent Toast Master and Advanced Toast Master).

    Meet 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, September to May, 8pm.

  • Kilkenny Liberal Studies Group

    This group offers a programme of lectures and cultural activities covering literature, history, music, poetry and art history. Classes run September to April on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Lecturers are experienced in their field and include a published poet, museum curator and a member of Opera Ireland.

  • La Leche League

    Breastfeeding help and support group for pregnant women and new mothers, offering telephone counselling service, home visits, coffee mornings and informal information evenings, second Monday of each month, 8pm, in St Luke’s Hospital.

    Coffee morning, last Wednesday of each month, 10.30am, at Jelly Tots, Outrath Rd, Kilkenny.

  • Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership (KRSP)

    KRSP is committed to promoting healthy living and personal development through recreational and sporting activity within all age groups, and throughout the whole community of Kilkenny City and County.

    KRSP works with local agencies and community groups to provide activities for all abilities and ages.

    KRSP organises both generic and sports specific courses in Kilkenny e.g. Basic First Aid, Inclusive Games Training, The Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children’s Sport and sport specific coaching courses.

  • Lavistown House-Centre for Creative Living

    Lavistown House offers a wide variety of courses in crafts, gardening, cooking, painting, yoga, meditation and creative living.

    Some of our courses are suitable for children.

    The courses run on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm, with gardening courses held one Saturday per month.

  • Kilkenny LEADER Partnership

    Kilkenny LEADER Partnership (KLP) is the non-profit integrated company driving community development and rural enterprise in Kilkenny City and County.

    The aim of KLP is to empower local communities to improve their quality of life by providing information, assistance, support and training.

    A diverse range of adult courses is offered from KLP Outreach Offices in Graiguenamanagh, Castlecomer and across the County and City.

  • Kildalton College

    Kildalton College offers a wide range of further and higher level courses in agriculture, horticulture and equine studies. Courses range from Certificate to Degree level (in conjunction with Waterford Institute of Technology). Kildalton also offers a wide range of adult training programmes and short courses in association with the local Teagasc Advisory Services.


  • Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (ETB)

    Kilkenny and Carlow ETB run a variety of evening classes in locations around the County. Courses range from short hobby and leisure subjects to longer work-orientated programmes which can lead to certification. Evening classes provide the opportunity to learn a new skill or brush up on an existing one in a friendly relaxed environment.

    Enrolment takes place in September and January of each year. Details of classes and enrolment nights are available from each School/Centre directly and are advertised through the ETB website, on local radio and in the local newspapers.


  • Community Education

    This service facilitates and supports community based learning in locations throughout the City and County. Its aim is to encourage adults to return to learning in their own local communities. Subjects include personal development, art, sign language, crafts, computer skills and others as identified by the community or group themselves. Classes generally run for 6 to 10 weeks and the Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board assists funding a tutor or facilitator. A minimum number of participants is required to begin a class.

  • Dyslexia Association Ireland (DAI)

    Aims to promote awareness of Specific Learning Disability (SLD/Dyslexia) and to serve the needs of people with this difficulty.  The DAI provides a free information service to the public as well as other services. Local branches act as parent support groups, provide information and run out-of-school facilities (workshops) for children.  Membership of the Association is open to anyone concerned with promoting the treatment and prevention of the problems of SLD/Dyslexia.



  • Mooncoin Parish Drug Awareness Programme

    Under the auspices of the Irish Bishop’s Drug Initiative, meets Mondays 7pm to 9pm in the
    Boys National School Mooncoin (October to May). Training courses in October for post
    primary students (transition year and fifth year) living in the Mooncoin catchment area.
    These trained students run a peer education programme entitled ‘Drug Awareness and
    Healthy Life Choices’ for confirmation classes in Mooncoin Parish.

  • The Icing on the Cake

    Hands-on cake decorating workshops for adults and children, all abilities, by experienced and qualified sugarcraft teacher. No experience necessary. Learn to create your own cake masterpiece to impress your family and friends. Group and private lessons available. Children’s cupcake parties and summer camps are also available. All ingredients and materials supplied.

  • Ryeland House Cookery

    Practical cookery demonstrations including Christmas cooking, BBQ’s and salads, casseroles, one pot wonders, fish and family meals and Thai. Watch Anne Neary at work and then you eat the results! Courses run from September to June on Saturdays or weekday evenings. Private parties catered for. We have cookery camps for children in July and also classes for 13 to 15 year olds.

  • Mary Gaine

    Painting classes taught by experienced local artist in watercolour, oil and acrylic.
    Suitable for adults of all abilities, including beginners. Courses run for eight weeks, starting in
    September, with one two-hour class each week.;

  • Duiske College

    Duiske College Offers QQI (FETAC) Award – Further Education and Training accredited courses as follows: Business Studies Level 5 and Level 6, Creative Media (Art) Level 5, Visual Arts Level 6 and Outdoor Sport and Recreation Level 5.

  • Art Classes

    Sonja, a qualified artist, teaches classes for beginners and more advanced. She specialises
    in classical techniques including oil on canvas, watercolour and acrylics. Group classes
    available, ring for details.
