The Involvement Centre is a peer-led group which offers a warm and welcoming place for people with mental health issues, their families and friends. Volunteers are welcomed either to share a skill or help out in the Centre

The Society provides one to one support and support groups for people with MS and their families. We provide information on symptom management. Exercise programmes are held from time to time.

Volunteers are needed to support the local voluntary branch.

GROW is a Mental Health Organisation which helps people who have suffered or are suffering, from mental health problems. Members are helped to recover from all forms of mental breakdown, or indeed, to prevent such happening.

Groups meetings take place on Tuesdays, 10am and Wednesdays, 8pm.

Kilkenny Talking Newspaper Association for the Blind was founded in October 1992 and is a registered charity. The first edition was recorded on 12 May 1993. Any person who is registered with the National Council for the Blind can receive the usb key. To receive a usb key, contact the Community Resource Worker for the Blind and Visually impaired. The Association is made up of volunteers who meet on a weekly basis to record the usb keys. The keys are recorded at the National Council for the Blind and are sent Freepost courtesy of An Post that night.

A community based drop in Centre for people affected by cancer.   Supports include: free counselling, massage and counselling, as well as numerous group activities.  Specialised counselling for children, advice and information.  Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm for drop-in support or by appointment.

Under the auspices of the Irish Bishop's Drug Initiative, meets Mondays 7pm to 9pm in the Youth Centre Parish Hall Mooncoin. Training courses that include an hour of youth cafe and an hour of education, for post primary students (transition year and fifth year) living in the Mooncoin catchment area. These trained students run a peer education programme entitled "Drug Awareness and Healthy Life Choices" for confirmation classes in Mooncoin Parish.

Befriending and support organisation for older people. Volunteers visit older people in their own homes. If you would like a visit make contact with this friendly and helpful group, phone or call in. New volunteers always welcome.

SOS is a voluntary organisation supporting adults with a range of intellectual disabilities including mild moderate, severe and profound. SOS provides day services, respite and residential care. We are looking for families to provide short breaks in their home for adults from our services, nominal expenses are paid. We also need volunteers to accompany adults from our services on social and recreational activities, time commitment 2 to 3 hours, either weekly or fortnightly.

The Meet and Greet Volunteer Service at St Luke’s General Hospital assists and supports members of the public when visiting the hospital. The main role of Meet and Greet volunteers is to provide a friendly welcome to the hospital assisting and guiding visitors and patients to the various wards, departments and clinics in the hospital. Volunteers also visit patients, read newspapers to patients, play cards, facilitate a walk in the hospital grounds, assist with feeding for less able patients, operate a library service to the wards, etc.

L'Arche is a group of over 130 worldwide communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together in community. There are plenty of opportunities to become involved as an occasional volunteer. Help prepare a meal in one of the homes or lend a hand with the household chores. Spend a day in the garden or in the administration office. Or just be a friend to one of our core members or assistants.

The Father McGrath Centre provides education support and after school programmes to approximately 100 primary and post primary school children. The service operates Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm, from September to June. A comprehensive summer programme is also offered. The Childcare (Pre-school Services) Regulations 2006 state that a childminder should
look after no more than 5 pre-school children, including his/her own at any one time.
If a childminder meets this criteria they are obliged to notify with the HSE. However if a
childminder is caring for 3 pre-school children or less they can avail of the Voluntary
Notification System put in place by the County Childcare Committee. This system of
notification is dealt with by their local Childminding Advisory Officer within the County Childcare Committee.

The Youth Information Centre provides a free, confidential information service to young people aged between 12 and 30 and those who work with them on a wide range of subjects including careers, education, employment matters, rights and entitlements, leisure, sport, travel and European opportunities

We also offer Outreach services to schools and community groups throughout Kilkenny delivering programmes such as Mental Health, Sexual Health, Drug Awareness, Body Image and Self Esteem, Bullying, Faith Based Programmes and Mentoring services.

KTCM assists and supports Traveller children of primary and secondary school age, in the Hebron and Wetlands areas of Kilkenny City and Rosbercon, Co Kilkenny, to do their homework.

KTCM also provides recreational, cultural and social activities to the 60 participating children.

Volunteers who are interested in work experience and looking to a career in social care, childcare or teaching are welcome to apply. Teaching skills are not required.

The mission of Enable Ireland is to work in partnership with those who use our services to acheive maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities.

Enable Ireland Kilkenny is contracted by the Health Services Executive (HSE) to provide therapy services to children with a primary physical disability from 0 to 18 years ( or school-leaving age ) and day services to children, 0 to 6 years, with a range of disabilities. These include physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.

This agricultural show dates back to 1826 and is one of the largest in the country. Showcases the best of livestock, poultry, produce and crafts, as well as featuring showjumping. Held annually in Piltown, Co Kilkenny.

A free and confidential service available to employers, employees and jobseekers. KASES is a Department of Social Protection funded initiative that enables and empowers people with varying abilities who require extra support or those with a disability or an illness to search for employment in the open labour market. We prepare people to access and maintain employment while also assisting them to integrate into the staff team. We are also available to those who are in paid employment and need support to sustain their role.
