Samaritans is a voluntary listening charity supporting people in all sorts of crisis that cause emotional upset. The service provides non-judgemental, confidential, emotional support to people experiencing distress or despair, including suicidal feelings. They are available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and encourage people in need of support to get in touch.

Samaritans recruit new volunteers on an on-going basis. Training for the listening role is essential and is conducted over a six month period and there is continuous on-going training. Volunteers agree to doing an average of one 3 hour duty per week; and once a month to do an "overnight"  (4 hours) duty. Other support roles are also available, e.g. fundraising, shop, publicity.

Committment and confidentiality are the cornerstones of the Samaritan organization. For an application form phone, e-mail write or call in (opening times vary but are displayed at the door of the centre)
