Children's University John's Quay

The first children's university was established in Birmingham and the project was introduced to Kilkenny in December 1996. Catering at present for children between the ages of 7 and 12, the Children's University aim to provide exciting, unusual and interesting learning experiences for children of all ages; and to challenge children to explore their personal interests and potential.

The centre has a dedicated computer room with ten computers and ISDN connectivity. Kilkenny Information assisted this centre in extending its ICT facilities by installing an ISDN line, a team internet box and server.

The centre organises a wide range programmes for children and is linked to the Childrens University in Birmingham. The Training Centre is being used 6 days a week delivering a wide range of courses including Internet and e-mail training, ECDL and the JEB Diploma. The Centre is an accredited ECDL and JEB training centre. Other organisations such as the jobs Club and Kilkenny Homemakers use the IT facilities.
