Kilkenny Access Group

Kilkenny Access Group is affiliated to Kilkenny Community Action Network: (KCAN)

The Kilkenny Access Group was set up in 1995 by a group of people with disabilities and other interested parties, from Kilkenny city and County. Our needs are simple, such as creating awareness, to encourage local businesses and the general public to make their environment more accessible to all disabilities, not just wheel-chair users.

To create a fully inclusive society for everyone. To break down any barriers which exist in preventing people with a disability from getting around their locality.

We do this by highlighting our needs to local businesses, local government i.e. Borough Council and County Council, and the general public. In recent times we have got a very positive response from local government when we approached them for help with certain issues in relation to access in Kilkenny City e.g. Dish paths. For details and dates of meetings see Diary. We would be glad to welcome any new members who would be interested.
